Fruit juices are basically sugar water. Yes, they have other nutrients because fruits are natural (mostly) and they are good for you. However, when you eat one apple, one orange, one peach, a cup of berries; these are reasonable portion sizes. When I was growing up, I would order orange juice at a restaurant and it would come in a tiny glass. That’s because when you squeeze an orange, you get a tiny amount of juice. When you order a tall glass of orange juice, that’s the equivalent of eating about 8 to 12 oranges. On top of that, you lose all the fiber! That means, a large amount of sugar is released immediately into your body in the most rapid way possible-as a liquid-this causes weight gain!
