The human brain is composed of 95% water; blood is 82% water; the lungs are nearly 90% water. As one can imagine, water is also the single most critical nutrient for health, growth, and development. That said, people still choose soft drinks, juices, and caffeinated drinks over good old H20. All of these cause weight gain, and simply do not hydrate the body properly. Experts say that the typical person can go 7 to 8 days without food – but they can only go 2 to 3 days without water – that’s how important it is.
It is also important for losing weight quickly. As you have probably read earlier in the book, stored body fat metabolizes into water. Therefore, if you drink lots of water, you are constantly flushing out water from your system. Furthermore, if you don’t drink enough water, your body will hold on to whatever form of water you can get to avoid dehydration.
