Supplements such as a multivitamin and multi-minerals can help if you are low in certain vitamins and minerals. Many nutritionists will argue that there is no reason to take extra supplements. I have found in my own experience that especially when I am dieting and trying to get down to extremely low body fat, that I simply feel better when I take multivitamins, minerals, amino acids, and other supplements. Most recently, studies have indicated that most people are low in the omega 3 fish oils, vitamin D, and B level vitamins – if this is your profile, and you discovered it through blood work performed at your doctor’s office, then ask if these supplements or more can benefit you. As much as possible, we try to get all our daily nutrients through a healthy, balanced diet – but as we age, or when we become sick, or perhaps while we’re on the road, this isn’t always possible, and so food supplements may be the answer. Check with your doctor to be sure.
